Astro Get Together 2006
(Blog Update For Tuesday 7th February 2006)In conjunction with Chinese New Year, Astro had this "Astro Get Together Year 2006" for Astro's employees here at the east entrance carpark (Astro is Malaysia's #1 Satellite TV Broadcast Company - featuring hit channels such as AXN, HBO, Star World, CNN...)
This year, it has been said that Astro will not host an Astro Fest for this year. Therefore instaed of having Astro Fest where employees can bring their family members and guests. They are now entitled for a free lunch in conjunction with CNY.
There were lion dance performances inside the building and outside the building just before lunch was served. Local artistes such as Ning Baizura, BURN and many more were present to sing for Astro employees.
Happy Chinese New Year 2006...

The lion dance is accompanied by these teenagers playing the instruments.
The Astro Get Together 2006 for Astro staffs and in conjunction with Chinese New Year celebration. There were 3 big tents outside the east entrance carpark of Astro to accomodate around 2,000 Astro employees for this luncheon.
Not forgetting we have other teenagers playing the tunes for the lion dance using these historical Chinese instruments.
Lion dance that took place inside of Astro.
Here's the Yee Sang that we had on each table. It's not a pre-mixed one...so we had to mix it when the ceremony starts...
Three other lions waiting and dancing on ground level.
This is a more detailed picture where you may see the other lions dancing to the one which is on the stilts.
I love this picture, the lion dance took place at the east entrance of Astro.
I'm not really sure what's the history is like behind these lion dance, but usually they have only one lion to dance but here today there were 5 different lions.
Those teenagers or kids who are doing this lion dance must be very skillful and accurate in knowing where they are stepping on. As one simple mistake can ruin the whole show.
The Lion Dance...towards the end...

From Left: Muiz, Me, William. Muiz is a new crew member at Xfresh and he just came back from the UK after finishing his A-Levels there. Someone said that he looks like as if he's my bro.
The stage at the front, where there are performers of different races Chinese, Malay, and Indian. This event was really a GRAND one as there will be no Astro Fest for this year.
My fellow colleagues from Xfresh, together with Adi of Xfresh FM. Tossing the Yee-Sang.
From Left: Edrei, Albert & Adi - We're all so HUNGRY and couldn't wait no more...so we started off with the peanuts :P
This is a dish that's called "Yee Sang" it's served usually during Chinese New Year dinners where everyone will have their chopsticks and just grab a handful of it in the chopsticks and toss it around on top of the plate.
Xfresh Group crew members tossing up the Yee Sang just like any other people at the CNY luncheon held at Astro.
This was what i had for lunch...from the buffet line, all for myself...yes - i know it's a little bit TOO MUCH but hey, its Chinese New Year!!!
Lots of food on the table...yes, we had to queue up for food and put it all on styrofoam plates. What a mess...
Flamin' J @ Plaza Damas
(Blog Update for Monday 6th February, 2006)Went to Plaza Damas @ Hartamas on monday afternoon for lunch with Jared. We first walked around in the mall part of the plaza. Got a lil' bit hungry...wanted to go for this "Modesto's" Pizza outlet. But i changed my mind...as i heard from a friend that there's this American restaurant that offers really nice 2 foot long sandwich.
So we decided to find the restaurant, found it as it's just beside Starbucks Coffee @ Plaza Damas. Its a "Python" 2 Foot-Long sandwich that has a whole LOT of chips around it on a big place. The catch is...if you can finish eating the 2 Foot-Long sandwich alone, on your own without anyone'1s help and no "pee-pee" break...you don't have to pay for the meal - it's FREE.
Wanna try? Well, it's only RM 46.90 if im not mistaken, and its free if you can finish it alone in under 1 hour.
The food here is not that great, not like what we expected. Although the price is quite reasonable...but the food is tasteless and has this weird local taste.
Went to Flamin' J for lunch with Jared. This is at Plaza Damas Hartamas. Not so sure about how "American" this place is.
Jared was having this pasta carbonara which is tasteless, well it tastes so bad that i don't even like it.
I had a Philly's Cheese Steak Sandwich - It's RM 16 if im not mistaken, the bread is so "normal" and the beef tastes different. I would give this 4/10. (I prefer Chili's or TGI's better).
